Instead of trying to hide your flaws, enhance what you have.
There are endless ways to wear makeup, experimentation is half the fun. Trying out a new beauty makeup looks can help you come out of beauty rut. Trends come and go, but there are some trendy ways that will always stand the test of time and look fabulous on our mature beautiful skin. When it comes to a classy makeup look, they always have one thing in common . A flawless makeup look always focuses on one feature as it's all about balance. As we age our skin change, it isn't just the loss of elasticity and those little fine lines we seem to loose that glow. This is why our makeup regime need to change. There are products that have special ingredients that are designed for a more mature skin. They are formulated to bring out our best as they have extra moisturizers to add in the reduction of visible wrinkles and give you that glow.
Its important to have a good set of tools to achieve a flawless Makeup application
It's important to use the right brush as Makeup brushes are specially made to target certain areas of the face. If you choose one that's too big or the wrong shape it won't place the product where you want it or apply it in a natural way.
This is why having a good set of tools in your arsenal is a must. You will need a few brushes for your face, to apply cream and powder products and quite a few for your eye makeup. Most of the time, eye makeup requires a larger amount of tools. Even though the surface is small, but getting that graduation of colours and so many precise details mean you need to dedicate some time and have the right brushes on hand. I love these brushes from Sigma Beauty as they make your finished makeup look flawless. If you're new to the makeup scene or you're not a regular make user, you need to understand the importance of quality makeup brushes.
Remember to clean your brushes. Dirty makeup brushes can cause an infection.. Not cleaning your makeup brushes regularly will affect the quality of your makeup application. Dirty brushes can easily contaminate your makeup products and can transfer bacteria.
|
Having the right type of makeup brushes is an essential component for our beauty routine. I don't think most of us know is that the right brush will make all the difference in your makeup.
A good brush will save you money in the long run as they will last longer and will give you a flawless makeup finish. I am loving these high-quality synthetic brushes , so there is not need to use animal hair so they're cruelty free. Plus synthetic brushes are hypoallergenic and is defiantly the way to go for us with mature skin. Sigma Brushes
Makeup brushes are specifically made to target certain areas of the face. So if you use one that is too big or the wrong shape, it won't place the product where you want it or apply it in a natural way.

Makeup Brushes we all need
- Powder Brush: You want a soft fluffy brush as this will prevent you from applying too much power
- Blush Brush: This is smaller than a powder brush and features a dome shape with long soft bristles. If you want a wash of colour go for a bigger brush
- Contour Brush: I recommend using one that's smaller than a face brush that has soft, dense bristles that will allow you to add product with minimal fallout. This brush should fit nicely under your cheekbone, it does the contour work for you.
- Bronzer Brush: Bronzer brushes are meant to be used on the areas that you want to add all over dimension. You want a brush that is pinched on both sides and the bristles are feathery
- Highlighter Brush: A highlight brush is used to apply highlighter. This resembles an oversized creased brush with fluffy bristles that can either been fanned out or come to a slight point at the tip. The shape and softness lends to blending and diffusing highlighter for a soft glow and its also perfect for setting under-eye concealer
- Concealer Brush: This allows you to apply product with precision to the area of your face that a bigger brush can't get to like underneath your eyes or either side of your nose.
- Flat Eye Shadow Brush: This is one of my favourite brushes, this is perfect for packing on your favourite shimmer shade
- Eye Shadow Crease Brush: This is a must as it blends your eyeshadow look to fit the curve of the eye.
- Pencil Brush: This you can use for popping on highlighter on the inner corner of the eyes, smoking out your powder lash line with shadow or adding definition along the edge of the eyes.
- Angled brush: This is great for putting on eye shadow for eyeliner.
The Bold Red Lip
The Bold red lip stick is one of the most timeless of beauty looks especially if you're wanting to add a bit of drama. Some people think there is an age limit on wearing red lipstick. ladies, this just isn't true, red lipstick is daring, provocative and sexy. If you still wearing the same products your were using in your 20's, 30's, its time to revamp your routine.
Red lip sticks fall into warm or cool undertones. Warm Undertones are orange reds. Cool Undertones have deeper blue undertones. Its important to know if you have warm or cool undertones when you're purchasing makeup. To figure this out all you have to do is the white t-shirt test ( Do you look better is a white t-shirt or off white t-shirt) A blue red is more dramatic on mature skin. Whether you prefer glossy, satin or matte lipstick or a warm or cool undertone, there is a red lip stick shade for everyone. Perhaps a slight adjustment in the shade of red is all you need.

Barely there Base Makeup Set aside hour matte, full coverage foundation and thick foundation and opt for sheer lightweight formulas. It keeps your skin looking lighter and fresher. Eyeshadow Primer
Eyeshadow primer is necessary if your looking for your eye makeup to last more that a few hours. It extends the life of your makeup. When it comes to searing eye makeup for mature eyes, how you apply it is every bit as important as the type you'll wear.
- Prevents Shadow from smudging and creasing: Primer acts as a barrier between the natural oils on your eyes and makeup.
- Makes you eyeshadow application even: Eyeshadow can go into your fine lines and wrinkles. It gives you an even base for the shadow to apply evenly on.
- Grips eyeshadow: Eyeshadow primer will act a a grip so that your eyeshadow will stay in place. Eyeshadow primer for mature eyes will act as a magnet for the eyeshadow pigment.
- Accentuates true eyeshadow colour:: A tinted eyeshadow primer will even out the tone of noir eyelids while trying true to the colour of the eyeshadow
What does a Pink Colour Correcting do?The skin around the eyes and on the eyelids is one of the first places you may notice the signs of again. It's like this happens overnight, you have crepey, discoloured eyelids. Using a light pink toned Eyeshadow Base primer will correct yellow, green and blue hues brightening overly olive sallow skin. This will correct your discoloured eyelids and your eyeshadow colour will pop.

Colour correcting cancels out imperfections, balance and disguise dark spots on your skin.
70's Inspired Disco Eye Makeup
From Soft shimmer to richer tones, shimmer eye make-up is a look that comes back around every year. Whether you want a subtle accent or a statement eye, there are plenty of ways to have fun with makeup in 2023.
When was the last time you used shimmery eyeshadow? Shimmer is a wonderful way to draw attention to your eyes. Every time I hear: if you're over 50 avoid shimmer, I want to yell NO WAY! Shimmer is good for all ages, especially when it's used properly. Shimmer attracts light, which means it can direct attention to important features on the face. |

A little sparkle
|
Just because were over 50 it doesn't mean that we have to stop experimenting with makeup. We just need to tweak our makeup choices. I suggest you put the shimmer from the middle to the outer area of your eye lid. Shimmer eyeshadows have small particles in them that reflect light for that subtle shine and hint of sparkle. Always remember light brightens and draws attention so where we put the shimmer on our eyes and how much texture we have can make a huge difference. They offer great sheer coverage and do not tend to sink into finalizes and creases like the metallics do. These can be layered for a more dramatic look for mature eyes. Personally I think the shimmer is part of my DNA. There is just something glamorous about sparkle. So wear whatever makes you feel fabulous. |

Blending Skincare and Makeup is a game changer for dry skin.
Ladies if you have mature dry skin, this tip is for you!
Blending skincare and makeup is a game changer for dry skin. This will help you achieve a smoother and more natural looking makeup application. I mix a ratio is one to one of cream of foundation and if you want to add boost, add primer to the cocktail. By combing these products you can customize the coverage and the hydration level to suit your own skin type and preferences. This technique is beneficial for those with dry or dehydrated skin as it ensures a more radiant and luminous finish. A benefit is it extends the life of your make up and it will prevent it from setting into your fine lines and wrinkles |
|
Benefits:
By combining foundation with moisturizers offer numerous benefits by providing a seamless application, enhanced hydration, and a naturaL glowing complexion. If you happen to have a suntan and your foundation is too light, you will find it will work as it dilutes the coverage.
Customizing Coverage:
Mixing foundation and moisturizer allows you to customize the level of coverage and finish that suits your skin. If you want a sheer coverage adding more moisturizer will dilute the foundation and create a lightweight tinted effect. For a heavier coverage simply adjust the ration by adding more foundation to the mix.
This method will enable you to achieve a more natural, skin like finish as the moisturizer will help sheer out the foundation and prevents a heavy caked on look which is not good for mature skin.

How to achieve a Glowing Base on Mature Skin
|
First: Primer is the unsung hero of your beauty routine as we age. Hydrating primer's promote plumper more radiant skin and they improve the longevity of your make up. Think of primer as a double sided skin tape for the face, it locks in your skincare, helps your makeup stay in place and prevents it from setting into fine lines and wrinkles. If you're looking for a primer that caters to mature skin, take a look at Valentino Beauty V-Ligher as it contains hyaluronic acid and light reflecting pearls. This fills in your prose and allows your face products to seamlessly glide on.

Second: Bronzer Knowing how to apply bronzer is a great skill. Bronzer can make your skin look it has a sun kissed glow all year round. Another term for this is underpainting. This will help create a look that appears more natural blended and glossy on your skin as this builds dimension from underneath. Bronzer will warm up you skin and it has colour correcting properties. When putting on Bronzer think of the number 3- Forehead, hollows of your cheeks and under the jawline.
Third: Foundation- Foundation is meant to enhance your skins appearance, not to have a mask like effect that covers your complexion. Less s more is a good rule to follow. Heavy thick formulas will exaggerate finalizes and wrinkles. This is why I use La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation as this is a hydrating formula. Mature skin tends to be drier and needs maximum hydration, Matte formulas aren't great for this, look for something dewy.

So I finally Tried the Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream

This Bronzer is a dream for mature skin. It has such a beautiful glow when you buff it on your skin. Its velvety, non sparkle finish has a slight wetness to it. It looks so beautiful on your skin and it doesn't break up the makeup underneath.
I find this really enhanced the appearance of my complexion and this offers buildable coverage that doesn't become clumpy or look dry. |
Bronzer has a unique ability to mimic the sun-kissed glow that often comes with spending time in the sun.
Knowing how to apply bronzer is a great skill. Bronzer can wake up tired skin and create the illusion of a more sculpted cheekbones. The first step is to choose the right bronzer for your skin tone

How to figure out what your undertone is?
This is simple grab a white T-shirt. In a bright natural light hold the item up to your face. If your skin looks pink or rosy in the light you're a cool toned. If your face does look more yellow your undertone is warm. If you feel you look better in off-white that is another sign that you may be warm toned. If you feel you can wear both colours without feeling like you look washed out then you have a neutral undertone.
Check the Colour of your Veins: You have cool undertones is yo can see blue veins in your skin. If your veins appear green on the skin, you're warm. Neutral is a mixture of both warm and cool undertones.
Match Bronzer your Skin Tone:
Warm: Women with warm undertones do suit warmer bronzer such as Mocha, golden-brown to accentuate your natural warmth
Cool: Opt for bronzer in beiges, tan or soft peaches
Neutral: Neutral brown-based bronzers that are neither too warm nor to cool will complement your skin best. I do go for a neutral brown.
Tip: I warm up my skin by placing bronzer on my skin before I put my foundation on, this is called underpainting. What this does its warm up your skin and it evens out your skin tone. This will create the bones of your makeup routine, I put it around the hairline, down the bridge of the nose, beneath cheekbones corner of my eye to the tail of my eye brow and and the jawline. I like using a fluffy brush as it gives it an airbrush effect with a featherlight application. What I like about applying it with a fluffy brush is the final effect looks natural in real life.

Lets Shape our Eyebrows
I am using the Tom Ford Beauty Brow Sculpture and this is one product that doesn't require much effort to use. This is an incredible formula that allows you to achieve a natural looking brow in a very short amount of time. My shade is 04 Expresso, which is a rich dark brown. However it does require some building to achieve this dark colour. Its a unique formula as its a perfect balance between waxy and powder allowing the pigment to smoothy grab onto your skin.and it holds the brow hairs in place all day long.
|
No matter what your current eyebrow situation is you can always get beautiful and perfectly shaped brows that will complement and shape your face. Well-groomer and defined eyebrow instantly make you look classy and pulled together. As we age, our brows stop growing back after waxing and tweezing. Then we also stop to sprout some unwanted greys. A little bit of filling and brow gel will compliment your eyes and make you look more awake.
Star with brow mapping (This is important)
Tom Ford Beauty Eyebrow Gel is a game changer. This finer-filled, water resistant formula brushed onto your brows for an all-day wear. It fills in sparse areas to create a full brow. Take the wand and brush through your brows in an upward and outward motion to fill in sparse spots and coat each hair. What I love is that this covers the eyebrow hairs that have become greys. This brow sculptor helps shape and define. It sets your lashes indelibly into place. This will beef up the look of your brows in just a few seconds.
Your Brows bring
|
|
It's important not to ignore your brows as they bring definition to your face. I find that there is a lot of information out there about eyebrows but not of these tips don't apply to us women over 50. As we get older, our eyebrows do change, just like our hair our brows become thinner and uneven.
|
Thick Straight brows can visually weigh down your eyes making them look small. Create an arch, this actually creates more space and focus on the top part of the brow.
When our brows look good, what we notice is the whole face does seem lifted. Finding the right colour? I suggest going 1-2 shades darker or lighter that your hair colour. This can definitely depend on your hair colour and skin tone. Remember darker tones do define. |
I find now that I am over 50, I don't have to tweeze them as ofter and most of the time its those rogue hairs that grow everywhere.
DermaplaningI use this razor to clean up around my brows and to get rid of that peach fuzz that grows everywhere . The Hydro Sill razor removes fine hairs by dermaplaning and is designed with fine micro-guards on the blade to help protect your skin. This means that your skin is not only left hair free, but smooth and exfoliated as well.
What is Dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is a very superficial razor technique used to remove deal skin and peach fuzz hair on the face. Benefits: The benefits to your skin from this process is immediate exfoliation. Since the dead skin is essentially sloughing off and the hair is shaved off, the skin looks and feels smoother right away. I order this from Amazon and you can get them in packs of three or nine. These blades are good. and they're great to shape your eyebrows. |
