IPL, INTENSE PULSED LIGHT THERAPY TREATMENT
So I spent too much time in the sun this summer. I noticed that my skin hasn't loved the sun as much as I did. As a result some small but noticeable signs of sun damage have begun to make their way to the surface of my complexion . When it comes to aging, the sun is your skins worst enemy. Most of the changes in the skins conditions we associate with getting older are a direst result of exposure to UV radiation. Sunlight breaks down the collagen in our skin, making it weaker and more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Sun damage also causes dark "age spots" to form on highly exposed areas (like the hands and face) and gives the skin a lined, leathery, weathered look.

Spending time on the Beach is definitely my happy place. The feeling of the warm sun on your skin is heavenly, but when you close your eyes and soak up the rays, your skin isn't happy. The sun exposure can be harmful to your skin at any age and causes skin damage .
So I am seeing these sun spots, I think it happened gradually, and wow these sunspots, broken capillaries and redness, how did this happen. I did all the right things like putting on sunscreen for prevention but I did spend to much time in the sun. |
And we all know that sun damage is the precursor to wrinkles and potentially skin cancer. So I want to deal with the damaged skin quickly.
So what is Sun damaged skin? Sun damaged skin or photoaging is caused by prolonged exposure of your skin to harmful UV radiation from the sun. I find the areas of my body such as my face, neck, arms, and legs seem to be exposed first. I have read that I'm most cases, 90% of photoaging is due to UV exposure.

How does is work?
Through a series of treatments, IPL improves the complexion and texture of your skin. IPL can reduce unwanted reds and brown on your skin, blend your complexion and minimize the need for excessive cover-up makeup. The light and heat from the IPL breaks up the pigment and coagulates the small veins and redness in the skin. Over a series of treatments, typically preformed 2-3 weeks apart, your complexion will have less unwanted pigment and redness and your skin will radiate a healthier, fresher, and more youthful appearance.
This is a well-tolerated office procedure where you will experience a degree of warm, snapping sensation during the treatment. A minor degree of redness may follow that usually lasts 1-2 hours and is easily camouflaged with make-up. Immediately after the treatment you may notice some darkening of your existing sun damage, which will continue to darken up to 24 hours after the treatment looking like coffee grounds. About a week later, you will begin to notice that the spots are beginning to fade away! Daily use of medical grade skin care will assist you in maintaining your healthy glow. |
Here Shelley is explaining what the VISIA tells her in regards to my treatment. From the results from my analysis, Shelly is able to make a plan for my treatment. |
